Beverley's wedding blog

Expect this to be an ongoing commentary on what I've decided on, and what I'm currently
agonizing over deciding. That's what I expect it'll be, anyway!

My To-Do List (5 months)

Here's an update to the status of my to-do list I last posted on November 15. The wedding is currently 5 months away.

To do 12-18 Months Before

  • Assemble your guest list, remembering to consult both families. Done.

To do 8-10 Months Before

  • Shop for your wedding dress and accessories. No change. Need to find jewellery, shoes, etc.
  • Shop for bridesmaids' dresses. Have decided to select a line of separates. Will be going shopping tomorrow and decide then.
  • Select florist. Probably going to use Thrifty's. Will set up a meeting after bridesmaid dress colours are selected so I know what my palette is!
  • Select musicians or DJ for ceremony. Will meet with pianist in January to work out the details.
  • Pick a Honeymoon destination. Check if any inoculations are required. Considering the Cook Islands, near New Zealand. Maybe.

To do 6 - 8 Months Before

  • Order formal wear for groomsmen. Will do that right after the girls' clothes are figured out.
  • Order Invitations. Found out purchased ones aren't all that much more expensive than the store-bought, print-yourself kind. I've ordered samples of our two favourites, and will decide once we receive those, and order them right away.
  • Select table favours. Favours purchased, but don't have anything to put them in yet.

To do 4- 6 Months Before

  • Address wedding invitations. Just need to get the last few addresses now. Oh, and order the invitations...
  • Mail invitations to out-of-town guests. Plan to mail them all at the same time. Will try to aim for end of December, so that I really do it by mid-January.
  • Choose gifts for attendants. Have started thinking about this, so that's a start.
  • Buy wedding rings. Haven't started shopping for his ring. Have an idea on how we'll do mine.
  • Arrange rehearsal dinner. Haven't made any specific plans, other than location.
  • Arrange transportation for wedding day. Not started. Will likely rent a couple of nice cars, but not a limo.
  • Order cake. No change.

Invitations

We looked through two books of invitations last night and narrowed it down to one in each book, which was pretty impressive. One of the companies has a website, so here is the one from Invitations By Dawn.

The other company is website-free, but I found a very similar image (the colours are different, but the design is the same) on PaperZone.

Bridesmaid separates

Here's a list of some lines that have bridesmaid separates. A few of them have interactive tools to allow you to see how they will look together and check out the colours.

Honeymoon link

We're still having some trouble coming up with what we want to do on our honeymoon, and I just found a website that could be helpful so I thought I'd put it up here: http://honeymoons.about.com/od/honeymoons101/
