My To-Do List (6 months)

Here's an update to the status of my to-do list I last posted on October 12, with an update on October 13. The wedding is currently 6 months away.

To do 12-18 Months Before

• Assemble your guest list, remembering to consult both families. Have given the guest list to all three Moms for their input. Mine suggested one person be added, and has started helping me gather postal addresses. Haven't checked back with the other two Moms to see if they have any changes.

To do 8-10 Months Before

• Shop for your wedding dress and accessories. My dress is in my closet! Unfortunately, the necklace set I bought doesn't match. The next time I see my neighbour, I'm going to ask if her offer of a pearl jewellery set is still good, and see if pearls look better with the dress. Then, even if I don't end up liking her specific set, I'll at least know if it works better than the silver necklace. I also think gold jewellery would work.
• Shop for bridesmaids' dresses. Not really started. I've got a few ideas of the styles I like. May go shopping with one of the girls one weekend soon, and will probably be seeing the other in a couple of weeks. Need to decide soon, in case they need to be ordered!
• Select photographer and videographer. Photographer officially booked, deposit paid.
• Select florist. Still not really started. I dropped in at a florist one day and spoke with someone about it and she basically said to decide on a budget, and they can make it work, as long as I don't want all expensive flowers.
• Select musicians or DJ for ceremony. Have emailed a jazz pianist and he is available and willing. Haven't booked him or met with him to talk about music at all. Will probably do that after the current municipal election (in which he is involved) is done.
• Pick a Honeymoon destination. Check if any inoculations are required. Not any further along. Still "Earth, somewhere."

To do 6 - 8 Months Before

• Order formal wear for groomsmen. Will do that right after the girls' clothes are figured out.
• Order Invitations. Pretty much decided that we'll buy pre-made ones from the store and just print them at home.
• Select table favours. No change -- decided, but not acquired.

To do 4- 6 Months Before (is it really time for a new section already?)

• Address wedding invitations. Currently working on gathering addresses.
• Mail invitations to out-of-town guests. Plan to mail them all at the same time. Will try to aim for end of December, so that I really do it by mid-January.
• Choose gifts for attendants. Have started thinking about this, so that's a start.
• Buy wedding rings. Haven't started shopping for his ring. Have an idea on how we'll do mine.
• Arrange rehearsal dinner. Brooke's dad & stepmom have offered to host it. Haven't made any plans.
• Arrange transportation for wedding day. Not started. Will likely rent a couple of nice cars, but not a limo.
• Order cake. Not started beyond gathering price lists. I've had a few people offer to come help with the taste-tests, though!
• Bar Service. Included with hall rental.
